Beat the heat...

Surely, we can beat the heat by harnessing the power of the sun not only at the beach but also in your homes and offices. You can blast your aircon thermostat to the max without having to spend more on your electric bills. Here's how.

The power of the sun can be harnessed by making it produce electricity for your homes. You will need to have some devices to convert solar energy for useful electricity similar to what your electric distribution utility company provides at home.

You will need solar panels to capture sunlight. The solar panels will produce electricity but may not be the type that will power your typical airconditioners or household appliances. Electricity produced here is direct current (DC) and will need to be converted into alternating current (AC) for it to become generally usable for the appliances. To convert this current from DC to AC, an inverter is needed.

Usually, the solar panels are mounted on rooftops (although panels can be mounted on the ground) with appropriate mounting devices for safety and durability.

Inverters are generally placed in places where the elements cannot reach it. Appropriate wiring connects the panels to the inverters; and the utility grid wires to the inverters and to the distribution box with electricity protection devices.

With the proper connection, you can now harness the power of the sun .... and stay cool.

Beat the heat this summer!
